Come enjoy the fresh air and fun environment at Estero Country Club. Did you know, that ECC is a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program.

“Estero Country Club has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program. They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property,” said Jim Sluiter, Staff Ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs.

The green and lush landscape of southwest Florida belongs to all of us; creatures large and small. We are lucky enough to be sharing our lives in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We believe it’s not only our duty, but our responsibility to do what we can to ensure the sustainability of our course and community. After all, some of the most elegant and rare animals are our next door neighbors!

Here are a few of the wildlife that has been spotted at Estero Country Club! Have you seen any of these critters?

Alligator Snapping Turtle: One of the world’s largest freshwater turtles (22″); occurs in panhandle; has bumpier carapace keels and heavier beak; lacks tail keels.

Bald Eagle: Flies with slow deliberate wingbeats, wings held flat, straight out with primaries spread. Sits on tall trees. Coast, inland waterways. Resident in FL; in summer many disperse northward out of state.

Bobcat: Orange-brown in summer, paler grayish in winter; black spots and bars on legs and rear. Stalks and ambushes small mammals and birds at night. Habitat: woods, scrub, swamps. Activity: nocturnal, year round.

Common Gray Fox: Habitat: Wooded and brushy areas. Activity: day or night, but secretive; year-round.

Corn Snake: Slender, head larger than neck; scales large. Caution: coils like rattler when cornered; will bite. Habitat: woods, open areas, farms, old buildings, trash piles.

Coyote: Runs up to 40 mph. 20th century invader from west United States. Only large carnivore to persist in heavily settled areas. Habitat: woods, brush, fields. Activity: mainly nocturnal, year-round.

Eastern Fox Squirrel: Young remain in leaf nest for 2 months. Habitat: mixed woods, especially oak, pine, hickory, cypress; mangroves. Activity: by day, year-round. Range: all FL.

Louisiana (tri-colored) Heron: Fishes by slow stalking and wild running pursuit in shallow water. Nests in colonies, with other species. Habitat: salt and fresh water mudflats and marshes; swamps; meadows. Range: resident in FL.

Northern River Otter: Swims rapidly, stops with head raised out of water. Eats fish, frogs, turtles, muskrats. Runs well on land; loves to exercise and play. Habitat: clean rivers, wood-edged ponds and lakes. Activity: day and night, year-round

Red-Bellied Woodpecker: Flight reveals large white spot in black primaries, white rump. Habitat: open woods, towns. Range: resident in FL.

Operation Impact Raises the Roof for 3 Veterans

Operation Impact Raises the Roof for 3 Veterans from Estero CC

eccAs Estero County Club at the Vines celebrates its 30 year anniversary, we are reflecting on how thankful we are for such a supportive community. What better way to start the holiday season than with a successful community event that touched the lives of several local veterans.

On October 25, Estero Country Club partnered with Affordable Homeownership Foundation for Operation Impact: Raise the Roof. Not only was the event an incredible success, but it helped raise funds to replace leaking roofs for three local Lee County veterans.

The event started with some words from the first Mayor of The Village of Estero, Nick Batos, and was followed by the Twenty three Guns and Hoses bagpipers and a drum corps and the presentation of the flag by the JROTC from Estero High School. After the opening ceremony, the games began! The day was a whirlwind of fun for a good cause! Activities included a golf scramble, silent auction and dinner!

With your help, we were able to raise $68,500 in in-kind and monetary donations, and over $29,000 the day of the event. This money went above and beyond our expectations! Thanks to your generosity, not only did three local Lee County veterans get new roofs, but the money remaining is going to roof repairs for other local veterans with housing needs. A very special thanks to the Affordable Housing Foundation for partnering with us and creating an event to remember!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, everyone at Estero Country Club and the Affordable Homeownership Foundation would like to thank the participants, the community, and everyone who supported this generous event. We are so thankful for each and every one of you. The tournament could not have been done without the support of our very own ECC members. Thank you for your continuous support.

Together we were able to provide three, much-needed for three local veterans. Operation Impact: Raise the Roof will return next year so make sure to mark your calendars for October 23, 2016.

Estero Country Club feels so blessed to have such a caring and compassionate community in sunny southwest Florida. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us build a fun, helpful, and bustling community.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Operation Impact: Raise the Roof from Estero CC

Every year America celebrate Veteran’s Day; a time to recognize the servicemen and women who served our country to defend the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today. This year, we have the opportunity to serve them back.

There are several veterans right here in Lee County who are in need of assistance. That’s why Estero Country Club at The Vines is partnering with Affordable Homeownership Foundation Inc. to present Operation Impact: Raise the Roof on October 25, 2015. The fundraiser’s mission is to raise enough money to meet the needs of elderly veterans in Lee County who are living in homes with roofs that are in desperate need of maintenance.

The event starts at noon and will consist of a Putting Contest, Hole-In-One, Team Contests, and a Silent Auction. A dinner and awards reception will be held after the event at 6:00 PM.

Registration fees start at $100 for individual golfers to participate in the events and $50 to attend the dinner. There are sponsorship packages available as well for businesses and individuals who are looking for additional recognition or business opportunities. Click here to register as a participant, sponsor, or both!

If you can’t attend, but feel compelled to help, we have opportunities for that, too! Tax-deductible donations can be submitted directly through the event’s homepage. Any and all support is valued and appreciated not just by ourselves but the veterans your generous offerings will support.

The event will take place right here at Estero Country Club. Our address is 19501 Vintage Trace Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33967.

We hope to see you there!

Estero Country Club Named Best in Southwest Florida from Estero CC

ECC 25th Annual 1The News Press recently awarded Estero Country Club this year’s title of Best Country Club in Southwest Florida. We’re proud to be considered the number one social club for fun, rest and relaxation in the region, and named as such by the newspaper’s vast readership! Colleen Sowerby and Gina Delevieleuse accepted the award on behalf of the club at the ceremony located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at Coconut Point on July 22, 2015.

Estero Country Club was created to be a community where you can have fun, stay healthy and build lasting relationships with our staff and members. If you’re a new member or looking to become one, there are so many different benefits that we offer here at the Vines in Estero.

Our golf courses are the talk of the region, but we also feature other sports and forms of entertainment. Our programs include classics like Rummy, Bingo, Mah Jong and Bridge. Our members indulge in the arts through painting and yoga classes, and oh! The places we go! We embark on frequent excursions such as lighted canoe tours, trips to see the Philharmonic and other great locations and events within southwest Florida.

Our dining experience is diverse and exquisite. Depending on your mood, you can relax in the warm, casual atmosphere of Mulligan’s Bar or enjoy dinners in our traditional dining room draped in pristine linens and elegant silver.

Our view is remarkably green with soothing water fountains and memorable, wedding-worthy views, but our most attractive feature truly is the people. Our staff and members are what make us—in your own opinion—the best country club in southwest Florida.

“Estero Country Club at The Vines is very excited about our recent award,” Membership Sales Director Colleen Sowerby said. “We look forward to celebrating with our members this club achievement during our 30th Anniversary celebration season this fall.”

Southwest Florida is Heating Up

Southwest Florida is Heating Up

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Southwest Florida is neck deep in summer and while it’s prime time for some fun in the sun, it’s imperative that you stay safe while doing so. Our afternoons are creeping high up in the 90s, sometimes even getting in the triple digits. While you’re practicing your swing on the course or court, walking around the lake, or just doing some gardening, be mindful of your body and the dangers this excessive heat can cause.

High heat can cause several health complications. One of the most common is heat stroke. Protect your body from heat stroke and be aware of symptoms; this may include:

• Body temperature of 104°F or higher
• Headaches, confusion or trouble thinking clearly
• Hallucinations
• Skin redness and warmth
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Muscle cramps or weakness

We’re not saying not to get out there and move though! Stay active but stay cautious. When you’re on the green or practicing your swing on the courts remember the following:

• Play sports in the early morning or wait for dusk to avoid the afternoon where the temperatures are at their highest.
• Take frequent breaks to cool your body down.
• Drink plenty of fluids and reapply sunblock as needed.
• Wear loose, light-weight clothes.

Stay safe this summer and spend happy days and nights at Estero Country Club. We are proud to be hosting so many fun summer events including our July 4th Celebration. Make sure you stop by and celebrate with us. Also, don’t forget to look out for the Best of SWFL, winners announced July 23rd. Estero Country Club was lucky enough to be nominated for Best Country Club. We are so grateful for our wonderful members and residents that help us keep Estero Country Club great. Keep your fingers crossed for us southwest Florida!
